ABOUT

Joanne Gibson, RDN, FMNS, CLT, LDN

I am a registered dietitian nutritionist with years of experience teaching clients how to build a positive relationship with food and exercise. I am so excited to share that I recently received my credentials as a Function Medical Nutrition Specialist (FMNS). I have a passion in this field of nutrition because it helps me create an individual plan that focuses on identifying and correcting nutritional imbalances instead of band aiding symptoms. Through functional testing, we can get to the root cause of your symptoms and correct them with dietary advice and supplements – instead of just ignoring them or treating them with prescription medications.

I have a strong background in medical nutrition therapy, healthy weight management, and exercise. I received my undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and was a member of their Division 1 Field Hockey Team. Upon graduation I went to the College of St. Elizabeth and completed my dietetic internship.

I continue to higher my education through ongoing education and certification programs. I am a certified LEAP therapist (CLT) and have received advanced training in food sensitivities, food allergies, and food intolerances. I have my certification in Adult weight management level 1 and 2 through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. I have had experience in personal training and teaching PiYo.

“I started going to Joanne in May, 2017. I was a 49 year old woman (now 50) in the midst of perimenopause, 5’2” and weight 151 lbs..needless to say, I needed to lose weight and get healthy. I hadn’t been that weight since I had my son 12 years ago! As anyone could imagine, I was very down on myself. In our first meeting Joanne said to me, “it is possible to lose weight.” I did not hang too much hope on those words as I had tried on my own numerous times, in different ways, and could never keep anything off. Joanne did not put me on a diet, but gave me a guide suited just for me, on how to eat healthy and lose weight at the same time. With the summer coming up, and having many functions to go to, and vacation, I did not think I would make any progress, but I started seeing the weight come off when I changed my way of eating and followed the guide. One thing Joanne said about when you have a bad day, “take accountability for what you do, own up to it, and move on…” these are words to live by. I have lost a total of 20 lbs to date when I didn’t think I could even lose 5 lbs and keep it off. I have Joanne to thank for that. Thank you Joanne for helping me get healthy and feel better about myself… I can’t thank you enough!”
